The next step is to clip the wire leads or install new wires from the thermostat control unit above. I found I was able to clip about two inches from the bottom where it was burned. I installed new Ancor Heat Shrink Ring Terminals #8 screw size on both wires. These are marine grade connectors. I double crimp and make sure that the top crimp is round and the bottom gets the indent. I used a Milwaukee heat gun to shrink the plastic molding around the wire.
