Page 1 of 15 The Great Escape is an older boat with teak decks that have been sanded over the years. I have been working on removal, re-bedding, and repair of teak deck screws for a while now. Everything from exposed screw heads to teak bungs covering broken and missing screws. I have tried lots of different techniques and tools to include just sinking new holes, but this is what I feel is the best solution to the problem.
This first picture show an exposed screw head with no head slot and it is corroded based on the blackness on the wood. I use my Leatherman Wave to clean out the remaining bung and try to identify the dimensions. I used a Dasco Pro 1/4" center punch to tap a starting hole in the head.
